The Bluebell Station Horsted Keynes
The Horsted Keynes layout in OO, using Peco track, a mix of RTR and kit built rolling stock and locomotives, depicts a busy countryside station in the preservation era. The layout was started in 2005 and grew quite quickly as skills progressed, adding at the time unavailable locomotive models to my collection, by now the time of writing most have been now manufactured by the likes of Hornby, Bachmann, Hatton's and Rapido.
The layout was retired and dismantled in Summer 2018, due to a house move.
It is hoped that one day, a new version will be constructed, and I am currently looking for a baseboard manufacturer to build a wood kit for the baseboards, which may involve Sheffield Park.

The layout itself, was moved in to a shed in the garden, stretching 11ft 2" long 2ft 2" at it's narrowest point and 3ft at it's widest. The layout was half scaled so carriage lengths were made up of 3/4 carriages and not the 6/7 they usually do in reality... probably a good thing knowing how much things are in 2024.
Originally when built the layout had no station building and no carriage shed, when the layout was moved these were added to the side making the board a few inches wider, the building was built using Wills country station kit, which resembles or is based upon an LBSCR design. This was of course modified.
The whole layout was really built on a budget using what I could get hold of at the time.

Locomotives and rolling stock:
The rolling stock, is rather quite accurate within reason, some kit built, some modified, some renumbered RTR. Currently a project to upgrade the early Bachmann bulleid carriages are underway, rather than spending some £60 on new ones, I will just have to make do with what I have.
